Happy New Year! Hope you all had a great time this New Years whatever it was that you did. I played a small show here in NY at Rockwood Music Hall and I have to say that it was the perfect way to end my year. I felt like in that moment, I was reminded again of why I love what I do, and that is a wonderful feeling. Knowing you are in the right place, doing the right thing, following the path that feels right to you. I am lucky enough to be having a lot of moments like that lately, and I am so grateful for it.

This year I will not resolve to blog more, because if I did I would probably rebel against myself and wait another year (I don’t like to do what I am told, even if I am telling myself). I will however, resolve to watch Star Wars, and learn how to ride a bike. (stop making fun of me, right now!)

I don’t really know what to say about 2010, it’s been a strange one. So much writing, traveling, some touring, a lot of reflecting on what my life has been like and how it has changed (and probably lots of me, over analyzing life in general)   and suddenly I find myself at the end of it again. Whatever that means. These days all meld together at some point, and suddenly you think, ” what year is it again?” when you are writing a check or filling out paper work. I know that the months of the year, and days and hours are all just there as markers, but they dictate so much of our lives. I think that wandering around actually helps you shed some of those “ties to time” if you will. Which is nice, but, at the end, you also find your self at December 20 without having done a bit of Christmas shopping….. oops.

I have been, if my vague studio tweets haven’t made it clear, been in the studio. I am here making a new album, finally, and it is damn scary! Really exciting though. I just wanted to take a moment and thank you all for being so supportive of what I do, and making it possible for me to keep making music. I am putting every ounce of what I have into this and I hope that when the time comes, you will feel it. I haven’t played a show since August (except for the small last minute show on New years eve), and I miss you all so much, I really can’t wait to come out and share new songs and play old ones again. It is exciting knowing that I am about to do it all again, and I have no idea what to expect. Not that we ever do, but doing what we (artists) do is always such a gamble. Throwing ourselves out there, spending months working on something and then in a moment, you will hear it, and either press repeat or move on. My perspective and yours are worlds apart, and that, is a what makes it all exciting.   It will be a while still before the album comes out, but I will be bringing you some sneaky peaks in the next few months.

So, there it is, my first blog of the year. Hope this year is off to a good start for you. I can’t wait to see you again. xo Rosi

Howdy Folks,

Im in the car staring out at the flat but beautiful landscapes of Texas, another 10 hour drive=FUN! haha. No but seriously, I’m out on tour with the wonderful William Fitzsimmons, and its been really great so far. When you are in a van with someone for many hours at a time, you learn new and wonderful things about them. One of which is that William busted out some Celine Dion in the car today, and I was pretty shocked. I think it all goes back to don’t judge a book by its cover, and if you don’t understand that, then visit Williams page and see what he looks/sounds like.

Last night we played in Albuquerque, New Mexico. When we got back to the hotel we were all talking in the van and someone mentioned how there was a serial killer on the loose in town, hhhhmmm. When you are in a desert town, in a motel like hotel in a town that is unfamiliar that is the LAST thing you need to hear about before going to bed. I haven’t really slept well in the last couple weeks and somehow last night I slept like a baby, go figure.

We just stopped at a desolate gas station with one pump and a motel that looks like the one from Psycho, if I dont make it back from the restroom, Thanks for reading my blog. xx

William kindly asked me to join him on the road for the month of April, and I am sooooo excited!  Hope to see you all out, tickets are available for presale so please look into the venues in your areas!

Hope all is well, I am in Park city Utah enjoying the sundance festivities! I Have already played a show and played on Park city tv while I have been here. I have been playing at the ASCAP cafe which has been awesome! Some of the other artists that have also been playing are Rachel Yamagata, Katie Herzig, Johnny Rzeznik who have all been AMAZING!! And tomor, I am going to see Damien Rice!!!! It is so amazing to see all these artists play on the same stage!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. I had a very mellow new years this year, so I keep forgetting it’s a new year. Every time I have seen a friend or done something in the last two days and someone says “happy new year” I get caught by surprise all over again, kind of a funny feeling. For the holiday season this year I rented a house with some friends up near woodstock, we were eight people in this cool house in a town of 50. So you can imagine that it was pretty quiet up there, which was nice. When you are in a tiny little town during the holiday season all there really is to do is eat. And so our vacation became FOODSTOCK 08! It took a few days for me to want to see any food at all after that. But over all, it was board games, snow men, eating, drinking, music and sleeping which sums up a close to perfect holiday season. How was yours?

In the last few months things have been pretty exciting for me. I released my very first album digitally (The Drifter and the Gypsy) on itunes, Amazon, and Rhapsody. I came in second in the Annual Williamsburg songwriting contest, which was really fun to participate in and I also made some cool friends there. But the most exciting news is the stuff that is happening this month! For those of you that watch “One tree hill” I will have two songs on two different episodes coming up. The first one will be this coming Monday January 5th with the song “Been a long day” and the next one will be The following Monday January 12 with “Hazy” (Featuring William Fitzsimmons). Later in the month on January 30th “Come Around” will be featured on “Ghost Whisperer”. So, I am pretty excited for all of this, I feel really lucky that all the work that me and everyone that has been involved in making this record is finally paying off. And thanks to all of you that have bought the album and writen me, I appreciate every one of you!!!

I have been getting some emails from some of you all over the country about when I am playing in your area, THANK YOU!! In the next few weeks, I will be announcing tour dates for an upcoming national tour starting in March, I CAN’T WAIT!!! I haven’t seen most of the country so I am pretty excited to get out there and explore, plus meet all of you! I just wanted to say that the record is coming out NOVEMBER 18th!!!!! Digitally, it will be available WORLDWIDE. I am so excited about this because it is my first record and a combination of years of work and experiences. Some of you have been emailing me for lyrics to my songs, especially C’est L’amour or Shine, and I just wanted to tell you guys that we are working on relaunching my website right now with all the new pictures and music, and when we do all the lyrics will be posted on there! Till then, I will post the lyrics to those two songs below.

So, last night was Holloween and Holloween is always fun and interesting in NY. I wasn’t that well prepared this year, so I just wore a masquerade mask to go out. I went out with friends into the city (I live in Brooklyn) to get a little peek at some of the costumes out there. I saw some Mavericks, Mr.T’s (always a popular one), lots of cows, and cats and lions and tigers…..you get the point. My FAVORITE costume of the whole night though was my friend Jeanies ! She went as a girl in bra and underwear. She was wearing this skin colored body suit and had drawn nipples on it, and other things……..and then wore a bra and panties over it. So, it actually looked like she was walking around half naked, and when I first saw her she lifter her bra and flashed me! I thought she was crazy, then I got closer and saw the costume. It was pretty great. I am gonna ask her if I can post a picture of it for you guys to see. What were some of your fav costumes? Hope to hear from you soon! Rosi xx
